I have been having trouble with leaking around my gas cap.  I ordered a vented cap from Kaiser Willys but in the mean time I added an additional cork gasket that I made.  Does anyone know what might happen if it prevents the leak but might not vent properly.  Will my gas tank explode?

If it  won’t vent it won’t explode, but you won’t be able to go very far. The tank needs venting or the fuel pump can’t overcome the vacuum in the tank and your carb is starved of fuel.
Just about every flatfender with a stock set up that I have been on trail rides with has leaked fuel when the Jeep is parked with the filler neck down hill.

Yep. Mine stinks of gas on a full tank just after a hard right turn.

You could opt to fill it a little less full. I don't worry about it, but mine has a rattle-can paint job at the moment...

I love pulli g up to the pump and filling up with 10 bucks.  All it can take without the right turn slurp, but no one else knows...

I wish I could fill up for $10... Out here it's closer to $27

Mine was leaking like a sieve on Elephant Hill. Bought another. Leaked. Bought another. Leaked. Tried a Jerry Can gasket (spout). Almost no leakage. They are on ebay cheap. Give it a try.
