I am ready to hook up the gas pedal to carb linkage and am a little confussed. I have hooked up the rod on the back of the gas pedal to the one arm of the bracket that is mounted to the back of the engine block. That leaves the other part of this bracket for another linkage. I assume there is a rod between this and the carb. Is there something else I need? Where does the throttle pull cable mount to the carb? I have another part in my parts box that has a bracket with a hole in it and two linkages but dont know if this is used on this. The jeep is a 48 cj2a. The choke cable was easy but the rest has me guessing. There also was a good size spring in the box that must keep the gas pedal a little stiff, but not sure. Thanks for the help

Thanks for the picture. I have the spring and see where that goes now. I see where the front of the rod goes to the carb, but cant make out where the back of the rod goes. On the same bracket?

there is a pivoting arm mounted to the rear of the engine block, pedal linkage connects to one side of it, then the carb linkage connects to the other side...

SB #829, June 23, 1947 - "Accelerator Return Spring" "This spring was relocated and made stronger to give smoother and more positive action ... Model 4-63 ... on March 12, 1947." While the SB only mentions the model 4-63, it's possible the same arm was used across the board, even if the new hole was not used on other models. No sense having 2 different parts if 1 will do for both. Sean |

The extra hole is not in either my '46 15292 or my '47 122031. I think you are correct about the connection to the retracting spring. The original spring was short connecting to to so-called CLIPs, retracting, one at the carburetor and another at the SHAFT and LEVER, cross, accelerator, to quote from the parts list. Although there is only a single part for the cross shaft and lever, there are two retracting springs listed:
Perhaps this is the spring that Sean just mentioned.

Those are the same 2 spring part numbers in the SB, with 644067 superseding 633011.
It's possible they just blew it and forgot to mention CJ-2A as well as 4-63. Sean |

Found it!
SB #48-12, Feb. 24, 1948 - Accelerator Spring: "Part No. 644067 Accelerator Retracting Spring supersedes Part No. 633011 on Model CJ-2A to improve accelerator action and to use the same spring as used on other models. Started with Model CJ-2A vehicle Serial No. 167127 on January 27, 1948" However, NO mention the arm itself changing. Sean |

I've looked in my books, looked over on Walck's (what was listed there didn't sound right in the description and no pic). and done an advanced search. I can't find the answer.
In Sean's diagram above from the parts list book (page 39), what is used as a point of connection between #11 "Link" and #13 "Accelerator Assembly". Is it some sort of a rubber type retainer? Anybody have a picture? (maybe it's sitting in one of my parts boxes, if I knew what it looked like) Source? Extra one? Do I need a whole new pedal? Thanks, you guys, for any info! |

Nothing. The tubular collar, attached to the treadle, is just constricted around the top, to keep the ball link from falling out: |

Anyone know where I can get the just the bracket and metal "v" shape piece. I have the pedal but not theses and I can only find them in a set.
