NAPA has similar lights, but I don't know whether the hood would fit. I found one on an old farm tractor, but it's bigger than the one we (notice I said WE) need.  BW

Are you talking about the little housing that slips over the light bulb?  If so, I have one and will find it for you.  Catch 22 is my handle on this site.  I will look tomorrow in my garage which can be described as a mess.  Sometimes when I am looking for a tool by the time I find it I have forgotten what I was going to do with it.  Ha!

I spoke with Carl Walck a couple months back and he told me that he would be getting in some repro dash lights by the end of the year.  You might want to give him a call.

When I go for midnight rides through the woods that little dash light about blinded me ruined my night vision so I'd unsrew the bulb. Finally found an original on e-bay for eight bucks the guy even bead blasted and primed it for me Big%20smile. But before I got it I used the clip on shade from those cheap nightlights fit perfect and worked fine. Looked kinda funny but function ruled over vanity. Those little buggers are hard to find. Many are missing the inside strap and are split.

What's nice about the earlier 2a jeeps is that little tiny switch under the left edge of the dash.  Just turn off the light when you don't want it.

But what is this strap you mention?  I don't remember seeing anything that would be described as a strap.  Perhaps they were always missing....   Wink

Westfork, I also wonder about the strap you mention.  It is Christmas and I am looking for something to wonder about.  Help us understand this so I can get busy and find a light hood with a strap.  Of course I am just kidding but let us know about this.  In fact, pictures would be wonderful.

Not sure what a "Large" or a "Small" would be. I'll measure the diamater and post it later. I've talked to a few suppliers and they sell the whole unit for about $20.

Oops, another case of memory loss (used to know alot more than I do now). Could have swore the base on the black one was solid, a complete ring so to speak, but as you can see it is split in the middle. The one off lefty is missing one of the ears. This is what I described as a "strap". But now I'm wondering also. Is the black one intact? Have seen a few of these and I know there that splitting is common with these. Anyway  I hope you find one in your shop. Cleaned mine up last week and already it's beginning to show signs of use again. Merry Christmas, Allen

All the original ones that I've seen looked exactly like the black one in your pic.  I think that the red one is damaged.
