After searching for about 3 months, I finally found and bought a CJ2A today. It's far from perfect, but it's solid and runs pretty well. It still has the go-devil and stock drivetrain. Surprisigly, it still has the 6 volt generator that works fine.
I took it out for a good test drive and after a little difficulty getting it started (around 34 degrees out) it ran good, no significant smoke or bad noises. It has a brand new solex and tank in it. Trans works fine (doesn't pop out of 2nd), TC works well and it has old school locking hubs. It needs a muffler, brake/tail lights aren't working and the brakes make need some work. They are solid, but need adjusting at a minimum. It takes a lot of leg pressure to stop. Maybe i'm just not used to it, but they definitly need adjusting. I'm going to look up the motor and body tag number. The frame tag is missing. Here are a couple pics. I'm off to do my happy dance

Thanks guys. The story is that it was restored (I use that term loosely) in the 1980s. The gent that I bought it from has owned it 16 years and only put about 1500 miles on it. It has a driveway quality paint job, but thats ok. I'd call it a 10 yard paint job. Its got a rear seat, seat belts and roll bar.
Right off the bat I see some things that need attention. Muffler shot. Tail and brake lights not working. It looks like a wiring issue. That should be an easy fix. Battery cables corroded and look small for 6 v Brakes! Might consider an 11" upgrade if my wheels will work with them. But will try to adjust them first. Tank is brand new, but sending unit float is bad, so a new sending unit is needed. I'm sure I'll find other things..... but thats part of the fun - right?

Welcome to the club! Just as others have mentioned, that's a nice Jeep. Prepare your wallet and yard space as you'll have a couple more in no time. It's like a disease... and I'm not sure there's a cure.
