Hey men, got new glass installed tonight with weatherstripping in...how do I go about re-installing the inner frame of the windshield back into the outer frame...been reading about a dent, etc... seems as if I place the outer windshield frame in the upright position-meaning up and locked into place then slide the inner frame from the drivers side into the hinge from the front of the jeep? literally, hold the inner frame horizontal above the hood and slide it in from the driver's side? I'm at a loss at the moment, tried to do it while it was folded down, etc...need some guidance and as always all help is greatly appreciated.

Yes your inner frame needs to be open and somewhat perpendicular to the outer frame. Yes the dent is present on the outer frame to allow the inner frame to slide along the channel. Grease things up and try to slide it in. It helps to have a helper. If it binds look at your flange and channel for excessive paint or if not repainted make sure no rust or dirt is blocking the way. You can also ream the channel with some round stock of the appropriate diameter to ensure an unimpeded passage.
(BTW this part of the forum is for how guys do things like rebuild a transmission or assemble an engine. They are like instruction manuals or videos. This is more of a topic for the "tech question" part of the forum. More folks will look at that area and your questions will get more consideration. That's why some of your other questions were moved there.) |
