This is the dashboard light switch for illuminating the gauges on 23353. According to the 1949 Third Edition Parts List, up to s/n 116421. Groups 15-11 and 15-12B.
The switch is located on the left drivers side dash in the corner on the lip.
There are two different part numbers listed for the domed hood that attach to the holder. The 1945 parts list shows the hood as part #640640 and the 1949 list shows part #640645. I do not know the difference between these two parts... if there is one.

Switch Part # 635737
Light Body Assy. Part # 640284
Lamp Part # 51804 (No. 63 lamp)

A while back I found a source for a truly excellent repro of this switch.  The only difference is that it's a repro of the Ford version for use with the 8N tractors.  You can order it from this link - www.just8ns.com .  A while back I ordered two of these switches from this site and received them quickly.  They charged me about $12 each +shipping.

Like I said, these are a repro of the Ford switch and include the cover that is over the toggle whereas the Willys version just had the bare toggle.  I ordered two of them so that I could attempt to remove the cover and have an extra in case I messed it up.  I did manage to remove the metal cover with very careful application of my bench grinder and now it is 100% identical to the Willys switch.  It fits perfectly in the proper location and includes two correct screws in the package.

If anyone is looking for a replacement switch I would highly recommend this little item.

No, sorry I didn't.  But basically all I did was grind down to the toggle on two opposite sides of the cover.  Since the cover is just a pressure fit on the toggle, removing the metal removed the pressure and I was able to pull the cover off easily.

I don't know what the internal components are made of so I was careful to not allow heat buildup from the grinding.  It came out well.
