I was thinking back to how many continuing years I have had a flat fender jeep in my procession and was surprised to realize that it has been 44 years. Oh how time flies.  I got the 1950 cj3a jeep i (my avatar) in 1974 by trading a black powder muzzle loader for it  and after rebuilding it and and installing a 225 V6 in it drove it for years as a personal vehicle. In 2000 I picked up a 48 CJ2A and gave the 3A (mock M38) to my son , and he is still driving it. I built up another 47 CJ2A that I am driving now.

It would be interesting to see how long some of the members on here have had a flat fenders that would share with us.

I've had the same one for 24 1/2 years now. Hard to believe. I got my first flat fender plow rig when I was maybe 22 - 23. Just turned 50.

So 27-28 years of continual ownership.

My first was a '48 that has been sitting behind the local VFD in Laneville Tx. Bought it for $500 in 1977. The motor was stuck, so I filled it up with Marvel Mystery oil and let it sit for a month. That did the trick. Picked up a carb kit from JC Whitney, cleaned up the plugs and pulled it all over the back roads until it started...smoked like a train for about a week. I've owned 13 other Jeeps since then...My current project is kinda reliving my past... I think I'll keep this one...

"Ziggie," my 1947 2A, has been mine for 30 years. Before that, 40 years with my dad, who bought it new in fall '47 for $1070 (including the optional passenger seat). So 70 years from new in the same family.

My rig, Grampa's Jeep, first came into our family as my uncles high school car in the 50's. He traded it to his dad, my Grampa, for an actual car and the jeep became my grampa's hunting rig. I've posted this pic here before, but it tells the story.

I, my siblings and cousins, went on many imaginary adventures sitting in the jeep behind Grampa's garage.

The jeep came into my possession in 2010. My cousin had saved it from the oblivion of the crusher, but he just had it sitting in a field rotting away. I asked him about it and he said come and get it. This is my first and only off road vehicle.

It took me close to 3 years to get it back in running condition. Since then I have over 10,000 miles on the clock, mostly on the dirt and rocks. It has been one of the greatest adventures of my life. A lot of it thanks to many of the great people on this forum.

Bought my first flatfender in 1973, sold it after 14 years.  Finally bought my second flattie in 1999 and hope to keep it until I forget what a Jeep is.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

My brother and me bought a Jeep when I was 13. A MB. I spent months removing layers of paint. I never found a military ID number under the paint. My prize is my 3B. V6, OD, PTO winch, 2 gas tanks, Powerlock rear and I did 11" brakes on it.
The JK guys know to not mess with it.

Ummmm, well, October 8th, it will be a year. Ask me again in 30, if I'm around, I will probably still have it. I still have my first two cars, 36 and 37 years.

You have to start sometime. I have owned mine for over 30 years. My 1953 Buick, my grandfather bought it off of the showroom floor. It has always been in the family.

I was 8 when my brother brought home a 47 2A with a Crisco jug strapped to the windshield as a gas tank. I can remember that moment like it was yesterday. He gave that jeep to me when I graduated high school and I've had it ever since.... 34 years. I have a lot of jeeps, but that one will be the last one that leaves my possession someday.

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife.

Hi CJ2A folks

My ADHD drives me to buy and sell rather than ever keep one for very long....since 2007 I think I have had 5 of them....once I drive them 2 or 3 times I am ready to sell them...

I get bored really really quickly

My current project I have had since June of 2018...so about 3 months and I am already trying to sell it...

My wife shakes her head every time one of them comes or goes from the 'hood we live in...

35 years and counting for me and my brother.  We still have our first one, sold my 1942 MB - just too good to uses, added the 1946 trail Jeep when the kids started to show real interest in driving on off road.  They are weave throughout the lives of our people.  Whether war time Jeeps, early peace time Jeeps, My wife's grandfather worked for Willys during the War and on into the 1950.  Two of my kids are Mechanical Engineers - they both learned a lot from working on these old Jeeps, driving them and from the good people who are humble enough to will these old machines forward in time.

Nice looking Jeeps. I started out with a MB. It was fun and we went on several fun trips together.

I bought Ol' Red in April 1969 for $485.00, so that makes 49 years. She is a 1946 and her first 23 years she belonged to an oil production company as a lease truck. I am her second owner.

She had 39K on the odometer when I bought her but the speedometer cable had been disconnected at some point. She had been used to push something at sometime because the left front frame horn was bent pretty bad. In 1970 I purchased a new M38 frame from the Philippines and she sat up straighter after that. She never had a top but I drove her in all kinds of raw Kansas weather in the winter back in the day. In 1972 I put in a Delco alternator and converted to 12 volt.

In 2015, after being in a garage for 20 years with all kinds of crap stacked on her, I decided to either sell her or fix her up. I couldn't bear to part with her so, I sold the original body to a fellow in New York and I purchased a MD Juan body kit. The grille is the original grille.

Rebuilt transmission, new transfer case, new emergency brakes (which it never had), 11 inch 1946 Jeep truck brakes all the way around, new master cylinder, new air cleaner and oil filter (which she never had), dual taillights and turn signals. new upholstery, new paint. I didn't do anything to the engine except change the oil.

Ol' Red now has about 900 miles since being on the road in August 2017.
