I know this goes in the "Other Vehicles" section (and I did post it there) but this thing looks so neat I couldn't help myself but post it here as well.
My friend just picked this up yesterday. I do not know exactly what it is but it does say Jeep on the front. I thought it was really neat. I will try and get the specs. I think it is an FJ-3A Edited by Night0wl - 22 Sep. 2017 at 2:37am |

It was a mail delivery vehicle. Note the right-hand drive. Had a shipmate with one 40+ years ago.

That is the postal version because of the grille. Non postal had the traditional traditional 7 slots.

All good info. I will pass it along to my buddy.
I think it is pretty cool looking myself. The front windshield setup is one of the things that make it so unique looking. Makes you wonder how the design phase conversations went back then.

I don't know exactly why Jeep built the windshield like that, but it's very similar to the "New Look" GMC city buses of the 60s.
GM Motorcoach Division designed the "goldfish bowl" bus windshields like that because the interior lights were left on after dark for passenger safety. The odd windshield design prevented the driver from seeing any glare or reflection from the interior while driving. If you're delivering mail outside of daylight hours, you could probably leave the interior light on to see the sorted mail without it impacting driving. Edited by LesBerg - 27 Sep. 2017 at 6:35am |

Heck that was from back when they delivered mail thru the rain sleet, snow! As far as a camper goes I'd have to add a pullout drawer for my legs to stick out past the body. I'd still like to have one though!!

That's another one of the 25 Jeeps I'd have in my 25-Jeep garage if I ever won a huge amount of money in the lottery. Big "if"...
