Hey everyone, I came across this in my travels this morning.

    https://fresno.craigslist.org/pts/d/clovis-willys-engine/6760672443.html

The engine is somewhat Spendy, but, for someone "looking" for one here it is.

My understanding is that the Supersonic has the high compression head !

Pretty COOL !

Happy New Years shoppers,

   Len

I have one of these sitting in the corner of my garage... running when removed Wink.  I'm quite happy to see it's worth that much LOL

Now Really. If that is what these are worth I would have asked a whole lot more for the one I sold a few years back. All I got was a pittance & a bunch of grief because it was not a CJ engine!

You took the supersonic out. Say it ain’t so.
I have one rebuilt and running in the Jeep. Looks like I should start locking it up at night.

Just out of curiosity, what's the casting number for a Supersonic block?  Is it the same as a CJ block of the same year?
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

Oh, it's so Smile... engine was in the 2A when I bought it, 0.030 over.  Drove it for awhile and it developed a minor rod knock before the oil pressure came up. It got swapped out, but early forensics look like someone did the top end and ignored the bottom.  Time will tell.

If someone shows up at my house with 20 Benjamins it'll be a very short transaction... just sayin.

Well if it was knocking. Probably just as well. The power these things put out tears up the running gear. I’ve only had mine in for a couple hundred miles and I already need a transmission

The engine in Ol' Red was a Sears replacement (remanufactured) engine that was installed by me in the mid 70's after the original engine completely lost oil pressure and ate the crankshaft. The Sears replacement just happened to have a Kaiser Supersonic head on it and Willys block (46-47) I think.

I never realized that the Supersonic head was different until now...more compression, I guess. Woo hoo!
