A few of you know that I am building a tribute to my wreckless youth in the form of a Pro Street Chevette. I decided to take my mind off of my damaged CJ and spend some time with my other project today. This represents the first completed sub assembly. There is a moderately priced complete CJ sitting on those jack stands End to end this rear end comes it at just over 30"

Nice! Chevvettes were a blast to drive in stock form (my mom's had the manual trans- burned a few tires off it during High School )
That thing is going to be wicked fun to drive! |

Actually, the brake set up is mid 80s Cadillac Seville. I lucked out with the e-brake bracket, anymore negative backspacing on the wheels and they would not have cleared. The housing was already narrowed when I got the car. I sourced and assembled it myself and my old boss set up the gears for me, the carrier is nodular iron from Strange, with a Detroit Locker and Richmond gears and 35 spline axles. I ended up going with 4:11s since this will be mostly a "fairgrounds" car. I will have some sort of overdrive in it, I have even been thinking of putting a 5-speed in it.
