Hi, My name is Daan. I have been lurking on this board for some time and learned a lot of things a bout Flat fender Jeeps. I am Dutch, but live in the UK. My jeep is a Mahindra CJ340, which i am planning to rebuild with the addition of Willys MB Replica body. I am planning to start a build thread, once I have worked out how to upload pictures.

Regards, Daan

Welcome and have fun with your project. It is interesting how many old military vehicles are over there. I wander over to the HMVF site once in a while.

Welcome to the board!  I have been to your country before but it was long ago!  Learn how to post pictures and let's see your project!!

My family visited the Rotterdam Cheese market and got our picture taken. I'm in Mom's lap. My Father was in the USAF and was stationed in France back in the 50s.

If you open your picture on your PC and  when you want to add picture to your reply. click on the tree icon and you can add your picture file and upload to the 2Apage, it resizes the pic for you and then click OK on the right side of that window

Pretty neat Daan. I'm trying to remember the things that are changed on them from a 3B. Front fenders and turn signals are obvious. I'm trying to remember drive line changes.

Thanks for the replies.
The Mahindra has a 4 speed gearbox (I think that is a T90?). The front axle is Dana25 or 27, the rear axle is Dana 44. The engine is a 2.1 l Peugeot diesel. There are hanging pedals with a brake booster. The chassis is basically CJ3B as is the body. The body rusts very badly, and in my case was not worth saving. They are very cheap over here, as no one wants them, as opposed to original willys jeeps, which are big money.

Chassis:

DAAN,

Just a thought - Will that diesel engine fit under the hood of the MB kit you are buying for this project?  You might have to stay with the CJ3B high body to get it to fit.  Something to look into before ordering the MB body kit.

You might check with the guys over at The 3B Page.  They are a very knowledgeable group.

Hi Stev,

This definitely fits, many people in the UK have done a bulkhead chop and dropped the bonnet to make them look like an MB. I am also planning to change the engine for something more powerful, but that is a different story.

Your transmission is not a T-90; that's not a 4-speed.  Also, a T-90 is only 229 mm long.  How long is your 4-speed?  Could it be a T-98?  That's quite a bit longer, like 98 mm longer.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

Hmm, it appears I have a KMT90 gearbox, which is designed by KIA:

It looks like a Jeep gearbox though. Overdrives fit according too Herm's website.

I will post a piccy of the gearbox. I also learned there is a 5 speed version of this gear box.

Hi, It took a while, but her is the gearbox:

It measures 250 mm, while the bell house ads a further 200 mm. The bellhouse has a bolt pattern which matches the Peugeot diesel. Transfer box is the same a s usual Willys, Dana 18 I think.

The 5 speed version of Mahindra is completely different, with a centered out put rear shaft. Not really much use to us.

Regards, Daan
