I'm really digging those LEDs! Where did you find them? And what color are they? I'm planning on running the Truck-Lite LED headlights and these tucked behind the stock lenses will look great!

These lights are white. I plan to mount a couple of these in strategic places under the hood for night/low light repairs.
The grill ones will be yellow. I get them from one of the vendors that works on my trailers. Check out Amazon. They sell package deals of this size LED for dirt cheap. and to MassCJ - yes sir! I'm on it. LOL

Your steering column photos scare me. I have a very similar set up planned and it looks like my header is going to be very cramped.

I was surprised how little room there actually was. I almost went with a third joint and second carrier bearing. But I was able to squeeze the set up through the mount. The header may cause you to go 3 joints. I'll be curious to see how you make out.

My steering shaft will start out lower as it comes under the motor mount Ill have a joint with a vibrstion dampenrr built in just as it comes out undrr the motor mount. My frame is a CJ5 but now has 2A motor mounts. Your Master cylinder looks higher then mine as well. I don't know if that will help or hurt

I found them on Amazon! They are made by Maxxima and they have several different colors for those interested. Thanks for the help and can't wait to see the completed build. It's looking really good.

So i debated this for quite some time, how to repair these. So I basically just dove in and went for it in my typical fashion. So to start, I began with the fender brace. I cut out the rust and painfully recreated the portion I cut out. I even made the choice of using real Willys sheet metal left over from the windshield frame rebuild. Well anyway, I got it all tacked up and was very pleased.....that is until I test fit it to the body, chassis. It appears with all the custom work I've done, the body sits approximately 3/8 of an inch higher. I had to cut out the piece I just made and extend it. The second attempt, I tacked it while on the body and bolted to the chassis. I love doing stuff twice. At least we are wrapping up the body work finally. My goal is to have these done and prepped for paint by the end of the week. Edited by nofender - 04 July 2017 at 1:20am |

A month later I'm finally finishing up the fenders. Just been so damn busy, it's been tough to devote time to the project.
Anyway, I patched up the fenders. There is finally no rust! I couldn't find a source for the inner fender brace - where the top and rear panels meet. So I hand formed a brace that would work. It's hidden. so my crude work won't be too obvious. |

Well I haven't posted much. Life has been pretty crazy and I haven't had much time. But i have been picking away here and there doing little details and such. Then last night I realized......I'm done.....with mock up that is.
So myself, my son and son in law blew the Jeep apart for the last time. Final sanding is underway. Paint on the horizon!! Edited by nofender - 02 Sep. 2017 at 11:41am |

As predicted, the muffler location was a no go. It was less than 1/4 of an inch away from the floor brace. More importantly it would have been dangerously close to the fuel lines as they exit the tub.
So, I found an Allis Chalmers muffler at TC and it work out perfectly. It's of a straight through design. So I'm not sure what it will sound like. But the "stockish" muffler previously installed sounded awful. So we'll see. Anyway, should be plenty of clearance now. I'll likely add some heat shielding as one more layer of safety. |

Yesterday afternoon, I was looking for some things I needed at Rural King and passed by the tractor mufflers and thought "potential Jeep parts" and mentally filed it away for future reference. Also found some key ignition switches and foot starter switches that show potential as well.
Willys did advertise the CJ2A for use a tractor, so it kind of makes sense to use some tractor parts in one.....
