I've got a line on a pto a guy is willing to part with. He's not into jeeps anymore and has no use for it. He doesn't have the driveshaft or gearbox for the rear, just the piece that attaches to the transfer case. Any ideas for what it might be worth?

Of all of the parts for the rear PTO the engage disengage unit seems to be the most common surviving part. The farther back you get and the more detachable the more expensive it seems.
I would think $125 for just the basic unit (assuming good working condition with a bakelite shift ball). I am interested in how others will price it. |

Have bought them from $50 -$150. All depends on how motivated the seller is.

I'm in the middle of that....I see $75 realistically, give or take a little.

cool. I'll see what he says this weekend. Not real sure what I would do with it but why let it go to waste.

It depends on what kind it is. If it is a fairly common Spicer 18, $50 to $150 is not unreasonable, although at the high end I would expect rebuilt with new bearings and seals, and the detente ball and spring present, which are often missing. If it is a Koenig Model 50 or 58 twin stick, which are relatively rare, it could be much more, and really, the value would depend on how desperate the collector was, and have little to do with the intrinsic value.

Check how good it is, if it is beat to death and cracked then determine how much you want to put in repairing it, the above prices are good starting points I did see a guy at the flea market trying to sell a spicer 18 for 300 that looked like the jeep was high centered on a rock and that rock removed the PTO from the transfer case quickly. But assuming it is an 18 and in good condition 50-100 and closer to 150 if it is clean and semi rebuilt as in bearings and seals. Good luck
