long story short, I've been working on a 1948 cj2a engine rebuild, replaced the timing gear times them correctly and slapped the timing cover on, but in the process of setting the proper torque on the the Mark's might been moved and I went ahead and set the oil pump and distributor at the timing set up at 5 o clock, then I went and checked for clearances and obviously moved the gears and Mark's all over, I'll be ready to put in the flywheel back on, my question is do I need to go back and time everything back and set the timing gear at position 0 were the Mark's match, and set the oil pump, distributor and flywheel at TDC? AMD THEY ALL NEED TO MATCH? or are these separately timed?
please help at this point I'm lost.
thanks in advance.

Hey Norman,

As long as the marks on the two gears matched up when you bolted them on, if the oil pump or flywheel is off you can still get it to run. Follow the steps in this thread that Sean wrote up. As long as you know how this are off the engine doesn't care.

Hey Stan thanks!!!! that's all I needed, I was afraid that the 4 marking had to be at TDC at the same time, but of what I understand there 2 different things right.

the gears are timed correctly and I will work this week on getting the flywheel and distributor correct this week.

thanks for your comments,
