Guys, Was any type of seam sealer or caulk used where the trailer floor meets the sides?  Also are there small holes where the front panel meets the sides down at the floor?  TIA Mike

I'd be interested in seeing what's posted on the seam sealer.  I'd like to use a sealer that wouldn't leave the joints with a "bathroom caulk" appearance.

I may be wrong, but I don't believe the tub should have holes up front.   These trailers should be pretty much the same as the military versions except for the tailgate and coupler.  Having said that, I too have holes (more like slits) up front but suspect weather wear or a PO added option thinking it would help drain if any water collected when the trailer was parked outside.

RUS mine has a hole in each corner that looks like it is supposed to be there unless it was drilled out by PO. Also on my trailer there wasn't rust or rust through in either area so at this point I'm ruling that out  The reason I asked about seam sealer was mine did have caulk in the seams. & I'm not sure if Bantam put it there or the PO  Hopefully someone will clarify this for us  Mike

I doubt it was used originally but stranger things have been done...No reason you couldn't use a urethane seam sealer and wipe away as much as possible, but dribbling primer in all the seams would probably work as well. You could either just soak them with a spray gun and wipe off the excess or use a small brush.

I"m going to use window weld. It's the stuff that body shops use to seal between seams on unibodies and the stuff we use to seal seams when spraying Line-X coating.

Windoweld is a black urethane compound that seals within a large temperature range (like what they use for wind shields) It dries fast and is pliable even after it's set. Runs ~$18 a tube but well worth it.

Of my three TC3s none of them appear to have had seam sealer,  I think it is a great idea to keep moisture out.  I plan on doing it, as it is a major rust point.  I am in the process of replacing the floor of one and also found no evidence of paint between the seams either.  Im going to use some weldable primer before i tack the sides to the bed, and then seal it from the top.  There is a 3-m product I believe it is called hard and fast(?)LOL It was recomended for sealing the rain gutters on an fj40 website. I think any quality paintable caulking would do.

Why not use a good 50 year Silicone? I ddi before I painted and touched up other spots with it. (Clear)  My main using was to seal up for water and dirt. Works great
