I rec'd the pair you sent me today, Mike. That was fast and they look great.
Stupid question: how do you secure them in the "tube" rolled in the bottom of the tailgate?
I haven't tried the pair you sent, but the one I had left rattled around, rotated and moved laterally.
I hate to crimp the "tube" or to hammer a shim in along side the pin, but they do need to be stationary.
any suggestions?
thanks

Drill a hole and "plug" weld them (they were originally spot welded)

That is how I do it in the new tailgate repair sections as well. They fit in snug and I already have the holes drilled in the bottom (1/4"hole) one on each side of the window Then I hammer in the pin and go about 3/8"deep in the tube and then just hit them with the mig welder. Make sure you time the flats I put them in line (parallel) with the tailgate. Hope this helps Edited by mike in oregon - 23 Apr. 2011 at 4:18pm |
