Slowly but surely my parts pile in the basement has made it to the jeep(I just realize I need to name my jeep, are they considered boy or girl?) Anyhow, getting ready to install the tie rod assembly after replacing new ends. Can I check toe in ect. without wheels and tires? Kinda at a loss on how to start. Could use some suggestions on best way to do this. Should I leave the end clamps loose? thanks Joe Wadoyado

Setting toe-in should be one of the last things you do, as ALL of the weight that's normally going to be on the jeep needs to be on it at that time. You might as well leave the clamps loose for now. Just don't forget to set the toe and tighten the clamps. BW

It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Can't help with the tie rods, but you will come up with the best name for the Jeep after it runs again. When you're driving it around, somehow the name will make itself known. It's like magic!

There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

to many jeeps, parts, and accessories to list here, but apparently enough to keep me in trouble with my wife. |

Jeeps always name themselves. It is some sort of wizardry. For instance my 48 "Eileen", after my best friend and I brought her home we had a few drinks a ton of chatting and laughing and jokes on how much it tipped to one side. I went to bed and woke up The next morning and there it was popped right into my head! Get it out enjoy it and it will naturally come,

I'm not good with names. The 3B is the B. My Commando is the C. (C101). A friend was following me on a trail outside of Moab. It sounded like a freight train derailing through a junk yard back there. It got to be called Junkyard. He did borrow a few tools that night to tighten a few things up.
I suppose this has nothing to do with a tie rod, does it? |
