How hot can a 225 comfortably run for and extended period? I went to an electric fan to run cooler on the trail and between stoplights, which works great. The problem is now it runs warmer on the road, even if the fan is running. It used to run 180, but now 190 seems normal and a really hot day may push it to 200. Any risk of damage here?

What cap pressure ?....... 190-200 is ok I guess, I'd be more comfortable at 180 and have some cushion.

What's your thermostat rated at?
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

over 15mph your fan is just a hindrance to air flow as it can't move air faster then the flow coming through the radiator.

thermostat is a 180 if I remember right. I'll have to look at the cap. Whatever pressure a stock one is should be it. Also I haven't verified the accuracy of the gauge but I do know relative to before I changed fans it is running hotter.

MarkW: I always thought that too, but at road speed with the mechanical fan it ran cooler than without. So that fan was doing something.
