Looks like I get to kick this thread off on April Fools day. Since we had our Easter family gathering yesterday, after church today I was able to work on the jeep. It warmed up nicely so I installed the new carb, carter filter and fuel line I got from Scoutpilot. After removing the Solex, installation was straightforward. Poured a teaspoon of gas down the throat a couple times to get the bowl filled and on the third time it fired right up. No leaks anywhere so took it out for a 5 miles test drive. It ran like a champ! No more hesitation or stumble, plenty of power and runs smooth. Heck, the only thing I had to do was adjust the idle a little. Excellent work and service from Scoutpilot.

1948 CJ2A - It goes nowhere fast, but anywhere slow.

Bought a 2" ball and wired in a 7 pin trailer plug using just the stop and running lights. Hitched up the M416 and picked up some lawn fertilizer at Home Depot. Barely parked and someone ran up to take a picture. Lots of thumbs up during the short drive.

many thanks Jim..i refering to the 4 bolts that hold trans to bellhousing..they are 7/16 bolts...mine shortest is 1" and longest 1 1/2"..appears they should all be the same length..the 1 1/4 length looks the best..

Hey Jim, good to see you posting.

Tried out a cheap 2-ton engine hoist that sells for $220 shipped. Not bad at all.

Hi Nick, fancy wheel chalk you have there.  Those engine hoist work real good. I got one from HF several years ago and it sill works great. I did mount larger wheels on the back to make it easier to move around on rougher ground.
  Is that a new jeep?

I have one of those Harbor Freight "cherry pickers" too, a guy threw it in on a deal for a failed project jeep. It works better on jeeps than the heavy one I have had for years, because it fits between the wheels better!LOL  BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.

Yeah, is it?  What's the story on that one?  We know you have one!

claybuster84, you have your valve cover on backwards.  Unless you want it that way, in which case, never mind.

Today I met a local guy with a really nice, restored 1944 MB. It quit running a month ago, so I went over to give him a hand troubleshooting it. I'm pretty sure the fuel pump is dead. Took the line to the carb off and no gas pumps out when cranking, but gas is getting to the input side. We filled the carb bowl and it fired right up and ran about 20 -25 seconds. I told him to call scoutpilot, I'm sure he can help get it going.

Came home and worked on my 11" front brake upgrade a little more.

I finished patching the pedal holes in the new tub that were off just a little.  Also plugged the fuel drain and fuel feed line, have a new plastic tank the PO put in.

SO while installing my NOS fuel tank that has turned out to actually be a Repop (hey live and learn it was still a very good deal at $110 to my door) It became very clear I was never going to be happy with the way the front strap sat up above the tank when tightened due to the clamp bing so far above the line of the strap causing it to angle as it was tightened. SO today I have been working on a new design for the tank strap I came up with. I'll have photos of it in my Project thread on CHUG. One last piece to make a left hand threaded stud that get riveted onto the strap. Weird I know!

What did I do with my Jeep today, nothing, same as yesterday and the day before.  Today is the 6th morning in a row with single digit temperatures, 8 inches of snow on Monday and Tuesday, 6 more inches headed our way for Sunday.  If my Jeep could drink beer we would go to the bar.  If it could talk I'd go out to the garage and let it serve me beer and I'd cry on its shoulder.  The 4th month of January is getting really old here in Whinesota!

Oh, stop your whining.  We like it this way, it keeps all the riff raff out!

Seriously, I'm really looking forward to it warming up too, this winter has had a long enough run already.  But I am working (slowly) on my Bronco.  I'm about 3 weeks into a differential swap.  (This picture was taken on April 3)
