I loaded the chain saw, machete and loppers in it and drove into the field and cut some brush and a tree.

I've in stalled my new exhaust manifold and intake manifold, connect the exhaust, installed new
carburetor, set fuel pressure to 2,5 psi and adjusted timing and engine rpm to 700. I still haven't
connect the choke or throttle cable yet. I'm working on getting it to run without the choke set
half way. As of now it runs, drives and idles good and the temp seems to be doing much better
but I not sure how to adjust the carb so it will run like it is now without having choke set half way.
Oh yes it is a solex carb.

A Solex doesn't have a "choke" as it is usually known.  It has an "enrichener".  Whether that gives the same indications of a vacuum leak as running with half-choke on a carb with a choke, I can't say but I'd be checking for the leaks.
There's a reason it's called Ol' Unreliable

I don't know about the bolts you are having fun with but I broke 8 grade 8 bolts in a D44 powerlock. Perhaps we were having too much fun with the V6.

Vacuumed him out and started rewiring the headlight switch. The headlights now come on when the switch is pulled all the way out, but they also come on at the first position, where I  think only the parking lights should be on.? Is the tail light also supposed to come on with the parking lights. It only lights up with the switch all the way out. The brake light does not work, but both filaments in the bulb look good, so I suspect the brake light switch is bad. This is a repro switch, probably from KW so the terminals  don't exactly match the service manual.

Rick - I just went though the lights and switch on my '48 over the winter. At the first notch the parking and tail lights are on. At the second notch the headlights and tail lights are on, parking lights off.  BTW, I put 6v LED bulbs in my tail lights, they are way brighter, yet draw a fraction of the current.

One of my PerLux lights was rattling something fierce. Found a base that was loose at the rivets. I pulled one of the spares I had and polished up the housing. Made a quick swap. No more rattle. Did some black paint touch up here and there while i was at it.

The big Jeep gave me fits on a trail ride today. Electric fan was acting sketchy at best. Found the fan relay contacts were all gummed up. So cleaned all that out and replaced the relay for good measure. Seems fine now.

I put the top back on last night.

Bearing noises are becoming worse especially when I let up on the gas pedal. The motor is still the old one in it and I see it failing on me at the worst moment.  I also saw fuel seeping/spitting out the side of the throttle linkage on the carburetor and landing on the exhaust manifold.

So hopefully I can source a good set of axles close to me for cheap, get the motor in, rebuild the carburetor ( or send it out for a rebuild), get the rebuild kit for the transmission and gears I need (still) then mount it to the transfer case that I rebuilt already. Put it all the Jeep and then rewire it.

Shouldn't take me too long LOLConfusedOuch

Yes, that shouldn't take much more than an hour. Maybe two hours if everything goes to heck on you! Big smile

I jacked the rear end in the air, pulled the rear tires off, filled a pump sprayer with purple degreaser, soaked the engine and underside for an hour before pressure washing.
A leaking rear yoke has coated my once clean underside. Preparing to replace the yoke and seal this weekend. I would rather work on something not coated in gear oil.

Yesterday i finally got the headlight switch and junction block wired correctly! I still need parking light bulbs, sockets, wire terminals and probably a new brake light switch for my 48, nu. 197040. Anybody bought the correct parking light stuff? If so, where?
Thanks

Loaded up the '46 VEC last night and will head up to up by Ft. Wayne, Indiana tomorrow morning for a small jeep show. Likely a sea of JK's and JL's will be in the parking lot.
Oh well, most people dig CJ's, don't they?

My grandson Oliver helped load the jeep. It's all ready for the antique jeep cookout tomorrow.
