My hubby owns some yellow iron too.  Mine is built for fun, but his pays the bills.

However, this is going too far --

Both are nice looking rigs...let's hope they don't mix it up because we know which would come out second best.

Well, no trees in the corrals, which is what you're looking at in the picture.  Six years ago we had grasshoppers move in and eat us to the ground, killing about half the trees in our windbreak.  I plant, plant, plant, and things die, die, die.   I was given some seedlings last week, so I'm planting again!  Ever the optimist.

Hey Kate do Cottonwood and Poplar do well in your area? They're thirsty. I'll bring you some starts if you like..

If I remember!, I'll bring you a Red Pine seedling from our woods to the BHJM. They grow well in poor ground, LOL

Poplars grow well here too. The last time I had them trimmed, they couldn't get a 90' bucket truck up to the tops of them. Catalpas do well as do some species of Maples. My neighbors Maples are taller than my Poplars.
Somehow, I managed to lose my Black Walnut tree and my Apple trees are a bit ragged this year. (late frost).

Rick, we do have cottonwoods along the river and ditch.  The house is up on a hill so there's no ground water, and the cottonwoods up here are half dead.  Poplars aren't my favorite, like cottonwoods and elms they do a lot of self pruning.  Thank you for the offer, maybe a  berry bush?

Lee, poor ground?  I've got plenty of that!!  I'd love a MN tree, just no guarantees I can keep it alive.

I see a conspiracy to create more chores for me.

Lee, I grew up not too far north of Katiedid and the only trees we had were ones planted -- and WATERED -- by hardy settlers (and at least according to my dad, teenage boys).

That's the truth!

Some of them have lived to be 100 years old and more, because it's too dry for them to rot off!  BW
It is NOT a Jeep Willys! It is a Willys jeep.
