Thanks Gary : : Gary, the horn wire should be screwed on to the relay plate on the tube. Its about 2" long with spring loaded contact to the brass bushing on the steering shaft. Take that off then lube up the upper bearing against the steering tube. Its probably just rusted a bit. The upper bearing is pressed in to the outer tube. With that done, unless I missed something, you should be able to remove the outer tube by pounding on the main steering tube with a soft hammer or piece of wood so you don't damage the threads. I've just rebuilt mine so its fresh in the memory. : You would only have to unsolder the wire if you were putting in a new wire for the horn button. Depends if the wire is OK. Mine was shot so it was a complete redo. My original shaft was ruined at the threads by the previous owner plus the worm was shot anyway. I used another with a good worm and good threads but no brass contact bushing. Boy was that fun to install!
