Thanks Rocnroll. You know, as I was filling it I looked right at the overflow tube and didn't even think of the non-existent reservoir. It is definately running hot right now as it boils off the excess water. Should I drain some of it off or allow it to boil down?
Also, I finally found an entire e-brake assembly on eBay--got it for $90. I am also ordering the Herm overdrive this week. Did you ever sell your other 2A?
: You can't fill it all the way to the top like a modern system UNLESS you put a catch can or reservoir (which is a good idea, unless you want to stay totally stock) because there HAS to be room in the radiator for expansion when the water heats up.....With the catch can setup, when the water heats up and expands, it will go out the overflow hose (the boiling over you experienced) and into the reservoir you have added. When the engine is shut down, the cooling action siphons the water (normally lost in a boilover) back out of the reservoir and into the radiator.
: What it amounts to is just a bit more cooling capacity and no more antifreeze pumped out on the ground.
