Please see Questions and Answers for some topics that frequently appear on this board. As you can see, this board loads rather slowly. If you are posting something for sale, please remember to include your location since someone who might otherwise be interested might not be able to use a part or a vehicle that is too far away. Posting your location when you're selling something that needs to be hauled will save everyone's time (and reduce the number of posts on this already too-slow message board). Thanks.

: An elderly friend of my father's has a 1947 CJ2A. He sent his starter away as a 'core' and got a different one back. According to the old guy, the original starter was 2-7/8" in diameter and the new one is 3-1/4". Is this old guy mistaken or could there be two different ones. (the company can't locate his original!)

As far as I know their is only 1 size and comes in 6, 12 and 24 volt. However outher than haveing the orignal (I would be livved if someone lost mine) For now the important thing is if the bendix has the correct teeth and if it bolts up and works. Main differance amoung most old starters is the mounting end where it bolts up the engine. As you know orignal starter are very hard to come by and you must have a orignal to be re-built or exchange. I did read somewhere that new starters are now availaible but don't remember where. Bill
