: I'm replacing my master cylinder on my 48 cj2a. Chris, I hope my opinion helps. I had a problem with my brakes dragging when it got hot. Then they would overheat. I made a sheild out of thin alum. It kinda helped but I still had the problem in hot conditions. I ended up taking the front drums off and checking the shoes to make sure they weren't hanging up. As it turns out I think I just had the new shoes adjusted too close initially and I backed em off when putting the drums back on. Haven't had a problem since. I think that there isn't enough expansion room in the system for the fluid to expand. I really don't think ya need the shield. I don't think it was a factory thing, just a jury rigged after market item. If you have brake drag problems try what I did and see what you think. Good luck! DC
