: I'm replacing my master cylinder on my 48 cj2a.
: I was looking through the message board and noticed that somone had mentioned ...don't forgret the shield?
: Is there a heat shield that goes around the exshust pipe where it passes by the master cylinder? or is there one that attaches to the master cylinder? Any help on this would be most appreciated. Thanks Chris

Chris, I hope my opinion helps. I had a problem with my brakes dragging when it got hot. Then they would overheat. I made a sheild out of thin alum. It kinda helped but I still had the problem in hot conditions. I ended up taking the front drums off and checking the shoes to make sure they weren't hanging up. As it turns out I think I just had the new shoes adjusted too close initially and I backed em off when putting the drums back on. Haven't had a problem since. I think that there isn't enough expansion room in the system for the fluid to expand. I really don't think ya need the shield. I don't think it was a factory thing, just a jury rigged after market item. If you have brake drag problems try what I did and see what you think. Good luck! DC
