Matt-

Took some measurements on my sorta bent up fender but I think they are good.
Before I go there, I am curious if the rt rear is where the spare is supposed to go on your unit. You may know all of this already but I've seen some dialogue (probably on this board) about left mounts vs. right mounts and, although I didn't pay a lot of attention, it appeared that those who do know say some were made one way and some the other. I think that the common denominator is where is the built in support located? A prior owner of my '482A had the tire mounted on the wrong(Lt) side and it did not work - rubbed, wobbled etc. In the Psg side wheelwell, there is a vertical 'wall'and a formed horizontal brace that provide stability for the spare tire mount. It appears that these have formed holes in them through which the tire mount bolts. It this is intact on your jeep, there you have it!

If not, here goes:
I took my horizontal measurements along the rail on the psg. side, from the left to the right - toward the front - starting at the center of the vertical 'pipe' (top bow bracket?)affixed to the exterior rear corner of the bed. There are 4 mounting holes in a rectangular pattern and it makes sense to call them, in order from left to right, 9 o'clock, 12/6 and 3. Holes 12 and 6 are on the same vertical plane - and mount through the 'wall' brace. Holes 9 and 3 appear not to be quite on the same horizontal plane (rectangle) but both still mount through the 2" horizontal brace formed inside the wheel well.

Hole 9: 3.5 in. from the center of the 'pipe, 9.0 in. down from the top of the rail.
Hole 12: 8.25 over, 5.25 down
Hole 6: 8.25 over, 12.0 down
Hole 3: 10.5 over, 8.5 down

I think I'd buy a new mounting bracket and use it as a template.

Finally, on this opening homepage, go down about 8 lines from where you clicked 'message board' and click on the "CJ3B Page" site. Scroll down the opening page to the site called "The Vibration Dampener" and you will find about 10 pics of nothing but mounts which will probably be helpful. I notice tht they are all rt. side mounts which, for all I know, may be the only way it's ever been done...

Good luck!
glenn
