I reciently replaced my springs on my '49 CJ3A. I could not use my origional C-Type shackles for this reason: THEY ARE TOO TIGHT!!! Shackles should be loose! If you use those shackes and are a pain to thread in... you won't be able to pivot on your shackle, causing early spring failure!
I made my shackles out of 3/8" bar stock and use regular poly bushings. They flex nice and I don't have to worry about ending my springs.
