Actually, all you really need to do mild to moderate snow plowing is box in the frame rails from the front bumper horns to the the rear side of the clutch linkage. The front section of the frame ahead of the engine side mounts only supports the weight of the plow when the lift mechanism raises it + the weight of the lift mechanism. Some push plates that bolt or weld to the inboard side of each frame rail fasten ahead of the front axle, aft of the front axle or both. I prefer not to have push plates mounted ONLY on the front side of the axle. I feel it's much better to use a 4 plate system with the two front plates ahead of the axle carrying the weight of the push frame and the heavier pushplates mounted aft of the axle absorbing the pushing loads. Any more reinforcing beyond frame rail boxing will make the frame too inflexible and cause earlier and more severe cracking.
