: Because that plug (in the galley) is internal.I dont think it's a galley plugging that's doing it, but rather something leaking somewhere. My next check is going to be (as posted on this thread) pulling the oil pan and checking for proper seals in the oil pickup. Thanx.

I am not tlking about the internal plug, but rather on the side of the block there aare 3 maybe 4 holes in the oil galley. The front as you know is the oil filter, the last at the rear is the oil gauge. I am talking about removing one of the center ones and connecting your gauge or even connecting your gauge to the front oil filter outlet. You said in your original posting that the oil filter line was loose and it blew oil pretty good, at 2lbs, you will not have any gizer. I most definitly would try another gauge too, just because your gauge is new doesn't mean much.
