: Just purchased my first 46 CJ2A, and am cleaning out the leaves to see all the holes. Gas tank has 36 pin holes that I can see so far. Engine turns over & was running 5 years ago. Just need advice on where to start in the restoration process. Take stock of what you have, I.E. how much of the Jeep is useable, what is missing, what do you want it to have. Be prepared not to have it 100% original, if that is what you are striving for, you will probably have to settle for certain epro items. Other things like Column shift, Governor, canvas top, PTO etc are out there but you will pay big time for them. Be prepared for parts that just don't fit, you will need a lot of patients and time to get certain things to work. Get a shop manual, parts catalog, operation & care, vendor catalogs from everyone, Beachwood, Walcks, Northstar etc., pricing is different from each supplier, shopping around will save you a lot of cash. Of course there is ebay, but the want-a-be Jeep turkeys there will pay anything for anything. If you still want to do this project and your goal is to rebuild and restore the Jeep, tear it apart and save everything, be organized. You can't believe how many times you will look for something and then realize you pitched it. Have fun.
