I'm going to get a repro fabric roof for my "1st year" '49 3A from Beechwood. If I go with O.D. its' 30% cheaper & Beechwood tells me that post war, there was a lot of O.D. around, as you can imagine. consequently, an O.D. canvas roof would not be out of the question, even if my Jeep is Potomic Grey with red wheels. As I understand it, there where several different canvas roof colors you could get, with Grey, O.D., and Black being predominent. beechwood also tells me that they can make the top in VINYL, which doesn't have the shrinkage problems encountered when you take off a wet canvas roof and don't dry it properly. My use for this 3A includes SHOW(justwant to participate) as well as 3rd, ok 4th, vehicle use... hunting - not getting wet in Vermont in the summer. SO: Historians-What are "legit" canvas colors for this Jeep.? I'm thinking about Black Vinyl, figuring $-wise, I'll only do this once.. What do the masses say, if it were theirs?
