Gary,
I am 99% positive that the tail gate hinges were painted the same color as the body. I removed mine before painting and then installed a very thin rubberized paper "gasket" between the hinges and the body.
I am 51% positive that the rear seat back leg "catches" were black. I removed mine, took them apart, sand blasted the component parts, primed them and painted 'em gloss black.
One point of clarification, I think the headlight buckets may have been matte black instead of gloss black. That's what I did, and they look great!
The real expert on this is a guy named "Mac" if I remember his name correctly. He has a complete library of detailed pictures of stock, unpainted, CJs. If you are not in a hurry, I'll try to find his E-Mail address. I drew most of my information from his research and his thoughtful answers to my questions.

: I am in the same boat (just about to re-paint); what about the tail gait hinge brackets (bolted to the body), and what about the rear-seat back leg brackets (also bolted to the body).
: Thanks
: Gary H
